Meandering Pangolin Original Artwork

Sale Price: $110.00 Original Price: $120.00

This is a depiction of a pangolin looking to forage in peace. Pangolins are medium sized mammals that feed on termites and ants. Their long nails can burrow and even break through enclosures! There are also fossorial(burrowing)and arboreal (tree climbing) pangolins though the Sunda pangolin can do both! In total there are about 7 species of pangolins. They are the world’s most trafficked wildlife with their scales believed to have medicinal properties.

-

Historically and presently many of these critically endangered wildlife are poached at unsustainable levels. In Taiwan feral dogs and cats remain a huge source of mortality for injuring their tails or even killing them. The young cling onto the tails of their mothers and the loss of the tail also does result in pangolin pup mortality.

-

Overall the best way we can do is to be knowledgeable about these issues and support organizations and individuals that help pangolins, provide education, and support law enforcement on both local and global scales. Some organizations include Save Vietnam’s Wildlife(where Mara the volunteer that took the photo I referenced this painting from), Pangolin Conservation and Research Foundation (CRF), Wild One(an organization based in Taiwan that does pangolin rescue and rehabilitation).
